Foil stamping has been used to grab attention and add class to packaging for ages. Think of the gold-embossed books from the days of yore! In 1892 “hot stamping” was patented by Ernst Oeser in Germany, a process that used heat to apply gold tooling to books. Then in the 1950s the technique took off, as the process became less labor intensive with the invention of rolls of gold foil in thin sheets. Today, the process adds nominal cost compared to the gorgeous result of a bit of shine on your packaging!

Foil stamping is offered in multiple colors and finishes. It is best used on elements of the design with crisp line art, large and easy to read fonts, and larger elements of your design rather than intricate, small, or detailed sections.
